Italian flutist Marcello Gatti completed his musical studies in his hometown Perugia developing an interest in early music and original instruments at a very young age, and subsequently studying in Rome and Verona. Under the guidance of Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (NL) he obtained in 1997 his soloist diploma with distinction. in 1997.
A sought-after soloist and particularly appreciated by critics for his sensitive virtuosity, great cantabile and stylistic competence, he has given concerts all over the world, performing a vast repertoire with Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic transverse flutes, with some of the most renowned and specialized chamber and orchestral ensembles in the field:

Since 1995 he has enthusiastically dedicated himself to teaching and has given courses and masterclasses in numerous institutes. After teaching in Milano, Verona and Vicenza (Italy) and at the Hochschule "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig (D), since 2014 he has been professor of historical flute at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg and since 2024, also at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz, as well in the summer courses of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the Fondazione Italiana Musica Antica in Urbino (since 1998).
